Project area located in towns of Lewiston and Porter, Niagara County, New York. Archaeological Site Monitoring of four prehistoric sites. For Phase II Site Examination see PAF Report no. 420. For Phase I Reconnaissance see PAF Report no. 419. Survey methods: surface inspection, bulldozer and backhoe trenching. Lewiston I Site, SUBi 1844, monitoring artifacts: Onondaga chert, debitage, cores, chunk, flake, fire-cracked rock, bone, glass, historic ceramics, salt-glazed stoneware. Stella Niagara Site, SUBi 1845, monitoring artifacts: Onondaga chert, debitage, cores, shatter, flake, uniface, fire-cracked rock, nails, historic ceramics, whiteware, ironstone, glazed stoneware. Lewiston II Site, SUBi 1846, monitoring artifacts: Onondaga chert, debitage, cores, flake, bipolar biface, fire-cracked rock. Lewiston III Site, SUBi 1847, monitoring artifacts: Onondaga chert, debitage, cores, flake, bifaces. Report refers to Lewiston III Site as SUBi 1848, NYSM #10738, it is actually SUBi 1847, NYSM #10737. Recommendations: report contains no specific recommendations.
